What's in the Hydration IV

  • Vitamin B12

Who Comes to Give Your Hydration IV

The clinician who comes to you is a licensed nurse or NREMT (nationally registered emergency medical technician), and that same person does your health check, places the line and stays while the bag runs. It all happens under medical oversight by our Medical Director, Dr. Daniel Olivero, MD.

How it works

How Long Does a Hydration IV Visit Take?

The drip takes about 45 minutes, and the visit happens without you leaving your hotel room, home or office. Across the Las Vegas metro, your clinician usually arrives 45 to 60 minutes after you book: often quicker on the Strip and Downtown, a little longer in Henderson and Summerlin.

  1. 1

    Book now or for later

Book online or call 725‑217‑4236, then tell us where you are and whether you want the drip now or at a set time later.

  2. 2

    Your clinician arrives

Your nurse or NREMT brings the bag, the line and everything else the drip needs to your home, hotel room or office.

  3. 3

    Check, then the drip

Your clinician checks your vitals and asks about your health history, medications and allergies, then starts the liter while you sit back.

  4. 4

    Back to your day

Your nurse or NREMT confirms you feel steady before taking out the line and packing up. There's no drive home afterward.

Health check

What to Tell Your Clinician Before a Hydration IV

Before the liter goes in, your nurse or NREMT checks your vitals and goes over your health history, medications and allergies. That check is the moment to mention anything below, since your clinician weighs each one before the drip.

  • With heart failure or a fluid limit from your doctor, speak up first: this bag is a full liter of saline, and fluid overload is the risk.

  • Kidney disease or dialysis? Mention it at the check, since your kidneys have to clear the salt and water a liter of saline adds.

  • On a water pill, a steroid or lithium? Say so: the first two change how you hold salt and fluid, and saline can shift lithium levels.

  • If you have G6PD deficiency, let us know: in some people with it, the vitamin C in this drip can cause red blood cells to break down.

  • Allergic to cobalt, or had a reaction to a B12 shot? Bring it up at the check, because B12 given by injection has caused allergic reactions.

  • Expecting a baby or breastfeeding? Tell us before the drip starts: IV vitamin C is meant to stay at everyday amounts in pregnancy and nursing.

Not sure whether it's right for you? Call 725‑217‑4236 before you book.

When to book

When People Book a Hydration IV

A Hydration IV comes to wherever the day has left you: a hotel room after an afternoon by the pool, a home or rental after a flight, an office in the middle of convention week. These are the kinds of days people book one for.

  • A pool day in triple-digit heat

Heat raises how much fluid you lose, and a pool day is hours of it, so book the drip to your room for when you're back inside.

  • Straight off a long flight

Cabin air on a long flight is low in humidity and pressure, and together they increase the water you lose through your skin and breath.

  • Convention week, wall to wall

Long days on the expo floor and a 7 a.m. call the next morning. Our guide covers staying hydrated at a convention.

  • Getting over a stomach bug

An IV doesn't depend on your stomach, worth knowing when drinks won't stay down. Think it was something you ate? There's also a Food Poisoning IV.

  • Training and race days

In long, hard exercise in the heat, sweat losses can outpace what you drink. Our page on IV hydration for athletes goes into more detail.

  • A festival or show weekend

In town for a festival, a residency or a big show? Book the visit to wherever you're staying, before you head out or once you're back.

The science

What Research Says About IV Hydration

Every ingredient in the Hydration IV has its own research record, from the saline it's built on to the vitamin C and B vitamins added to it. Each finding below cites its paper, and our guides explain how electrolytes work and weigh an IV against oral electrolytes.

  • Finding 01

    Normal saline

Normal saline is sterile salt water (0.9% sodium chloride), and in healthy volunteers a saline drip expanded blood and plasma volume.

    Reid, 2002
  • Finding 02

    Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an antioxidant nutrient with a role in normal immune function.

    Carr and Maggini, 2017
  • Finding 03

    B‑complex and B12

B‑complex and B12 are water-soluble B vitamins the body uses in normal energy metabolism.

Common questions

Hydration IV FAQ: Price, Timing and Booking

Short answers for planning a Hydration IV around a hotel stay, a busy week or a group, plus what the line itself can feel like. IV safety questions in general are on our main frequently asked questions page.

Is there a downside to IV hydration?

Any IV line can cause a moment of discomfort when the needle goes in, and sometimes a small bruise at the site. Less often, the line irritates the vein (phlebitis), or the first attempt misses and the line is placed a second time. Your clinician checks the site while the drip runs.

How long is the wait on a holiday or convention week?

It can stretch to 90 minutes. Weekend mornings, holidays and convention weeks are the busiest times, so if the drip has to fit around a flight or a show, book ahead for a set time.

Can I use an HSA or FSA card to pay?

Yes. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, along with Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay, all processed through Square.

Does 725‑217‑4236 take texts?

Yes, it takes texts as well as calls, so text us whenever that's easier than a phone call.

Is a tip included in the price?

No, the price you see never includes a tip. Tipping is customary but optional.

Can two of us be treated in one visit?

Yes. One clinician can treat up to six of you in a single appointment; for seven or more, we send a second clinician.
